Mumbai, 20 May (Commoditiescontrol): As of May 20, Ukraine has exported 44.427 million tonnes of grains and pulses since the start of the 2023/24 marketing year, according to the State Customs Service. This includes 3.068 million tonnes shipped in May alone, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine reported.

The current export figures are slightly below last year's total of 44.593 million tonnes by May 24, which included 2.707 million tonnes shipped in May.

Breaking down the exports for the 2023/24 season, wheat exports have increased to 16.644 million tonnes compared to 15.278 million tonnes in the previous season. However, barley exports have decreased to 2.334 million tonnes from 2.624 million tonnes, and rye exports have plummeted to 1,400 tonnes from 17,900 tonnes. Corn exports also saw a decline, with 24.964 million tonnes exported compared to 26.36 million tonnes last season.

In addition to grain exports, Ukrainian flour exports have dropped significantly. As of May 20, total flour exports for the season stand at 90,100 tonnes, down from 138,900 tonnes in the 2022/23 marketing year. Specifically, wheat flour exports have decreased to 85,100 tonnes from 133,700 tonnes.

Despite some reductions in certain categories, Ukraine's wheat exports have shown a notable increase, contributing to the overall stability of the country's agricultural export performance in the face of challenging global market conditions.
