Mumbai, 15 May 2024 (Commoditiescontrol): Chana prices showed a mixed trend across major markets on Wednesday . While Indore, Dewas, and Bikaner saw declines due to subdued demand, Kanpur and Delhi markets experienced slight gains.
In Delhi, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh, chana prices rose by Rs 25 per quintal, settling between Rs 6,600 - Rs 6,650/quintal as demand picked up. Kanpur also witnessed a similar uptick. Conversely, Dewas market saw a sharp Rs 200 drop to Rs 5,800 - Rs 6,400/quintal. Indore reversed the previous day's gains, with Katewala chana (bilty) at Rs 6,250/6,550 per quintal. Bikaner's desi chana (bilty) traded Rs 50 lower at Rs 6,400/6,450 per quintal.
Merta mandi desi chana prices remained stable at Rs 5,800/6,151 per quintal, while Kota mandi saw a Rs 50 increase to Rs 5,600/6,200 per quintal.
Weakened demand at higher prices, despite limited arrivals, led to the price decline. Stockists are holding back sales in anticipation of a rebound, preventing a steep drop.
Market sentiment awaits government procurement, which is expected to boost prices. However, experts foresee Delhi prices staying below Rs 7,000/quintal in the short term, with profit booking expected at these levels. Ample matar supply will also temper major gains.
