Ahmedabad, 18 April (Commoditiescontrol): Peanut prices in the Saurashtra region saw an increase of Rs 5-10 today, propelled by rising demand from millers. Seed inquiries offered additional market support.

Traders cite millers' anticipation of a price floor as a key driver for the buying activity. Despite 30% of the peanut stock still held by farmers and stockists, deteriorating quality due to rising temperatures is encouraging sales from the farmer side.

Gondal and Rajkot mandis experienced significant arrivals, with Gondal recording 18,455 bags and Rajkot receiving 18,000 bags (1 bag = 35 kg). Prices ranged from Rs 1161-1296 per 20kg for average quality and Rs 1211-1351 per 20kg for best quality in Gondal. Rajkot saw slightly lower prices at Rs 1130-1248 and Rs 1110-1369 for average and best quality, respectively. Total arrivals in Saurashtra were estimated between 40,000-45,000 bags.
