Mumbai, May 17 (Commodities Control): Clove prices have remained stable across major markets, driven by higher supply levels that are keeping prices in check. The Kottayam market reports steady prices for imported cloves, with Comoros-origin cloves priced between Rs. 850 and Rs. 870 per kilogram, Madagascar cloves between Rs. 860 and Rs. 880 per kilogram, and Sri Lankan cloves in the same range of Rs. 860 to Rs. 880 per kilogram. Similarly, domestic clove prices in Kottayam are holding firm, ranging from Rs. 920 to Rs. 940 per kilogram.

This stability in clove prices is largely attributed to strong demand, which continues to support the market. Additionally, anticipated significant price increases for other spices like cardamom and pepper are ensuring clove prices remain stable. Despite the steady demand, a substantial increase in imports is expected to be limited, further contributing to the price stability.

In Shimoga, the price per kilogram of cloves remains unchanged from the previous session, holding steady between Rs. 940 and Rs. 960. Clove stems in Kottayam are also steady at Rs. 125 per kilogram, maintaining the same price as in the previous session.

Market analysts suggest that the current balance of supply and demand is likely to continue stabilizing clove prices in the near future.
