Indore, 23 May (Commodities Control): A decline in the arrival of Kapas has been recorded in the mandis of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday. Due to the impact of international markets, an increase of Rs 500 has been recorded in the prices of cotton candy. Cotton seed has also increased by Rs 50.

On Thursday, the arrival of Kapas in the mandis of Madhya Pradesh stood between 800 to 900 bales (one bale = 170 kg), down by 100 bales compared to Wednesday. Despite the decrease in arrivals, no change was recorded in the average price of Kapas, which remains stable at Rs 6000 to Rs 7300 per quintal. On the other hand, cotton seed prices have seen an increase of Rs 50 at the upper level, with current prices quoted at Rs 2750 to Rs 3000 per quintal.

In the state, the price of 29 mm 75 RD cotton has increased by Rs 500, bringing it to Rs 57000 to Rs 57500 per candy (1 candy = 356 kg). Meanwhile, the price of 28.5 mm cotton remains stable at Rs 56400-56800 per candy.

Officials of the Madhyanchal Cotton Ginning and Traders Association state that the Rs 500 rise in cotton candy prices today is due to the strengthening international markets. There is very little work being done in Kapas within the state, and arrivals are also very low. Even at Rs 57000, no one is ready to sell candy; however, if prices rise to Rs 59000, cotton candy sales might occur.

With only a few days of arrivals left in Madhya Pradesh as well as in the country, farmers are expected to begin sowing Kapas soon. However, due to the extreme heat, sowing may be delayed by 10 to 12 days. This will result in a 15-day delay in the ready crops reaching the markets.

Arrival and Price of Kapas in the Mandis of Madhya Pradesh Till Thursday Afternoon:
- Sendhwa: Arrival 31 quintals, Rs 5699 to 6700 per quintal
- Khetiya: Arrival 25 quintals, Rs 4145 to 7505 per quintal
- Anjad: Arrival 20 quintals, Rs 7025 per quintal
