Ahmedabad, February 23 (CommoditiesControl): Castor seed prices in Gujarat exhibited stability today despite a rise in market arrivals. Demand remained steady, mirroring the positive trend observed in the futures market.
Arrivals increased compared to yesterday, likely due to market closures in Banaskantha on Thursday. Traders report approximately 65,000 bags (1 bag = 35 kg) arriving in Gujarat, with an additional 10,000-11,000 bags in Rajasthan. Direct mill arrivals were estimated at 4,000-5,000 bags, bringing the total to 78,000-80,000 bags. Castor seed prices held steady between 1,140-1,160 rupees per 20 kg.
Key buyers maintained consistent pricing: Jagana Shippers at 1,163 rupees, N.K. at 1,180 rupees, and Kandla between 1,160-1,175 rupees per 20 kg. Castor oil prices in Kandla delivery terms were 1,192-1,194 rupees per 10 kg.
The NCDEX futures market mirrored market stability. The March castor seed contract saw a gain of 39 rupees to 5,781 rupees, the April contract advanced by 35 rupees to 5,910 rupees, and the May contract experienced the most significant increase of 174 rupees to 5,979 rupees per quintal.
