MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) - Cotton production in Telangana is expected to rise 41.51% to 41.52 lakh bales (170kg each) from 29.34 lakh bales a year ago, according to first advance estimates data provided by state agriculture department official.
Output of cotton is seen higher due to a surge in area. High prices of the fibre last year and a rise in minimum support price prompted the state government to encourage farmers to grow cotton.
Area under cotton rose to 18 lakh hectares this kharif season from 14 lakh hectares last year.
