MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) - Small cardamom fell further at major auction centres in Kerala on Tuesday ahead of the Pongal.

In today’s auction, the auctioneers Idukki Dist Traditional Cardamom Producer Company Ltd offered 31.16 tonnes of spice, while the quantity sold out was 27.6 tonnes. The maximum and average prices were Rs 3,984 and Rs 3,675.84 per kg, respectively.

According to traders, trading activities remained sluggish ahead of the Pongal tomorrow and as the demand from North India was very low due to Makar Sankranti. On the occasion of Pongal, cardamom auction will be closed tomorrow i.e. on January 15.

Meanwhile, the most active cardamom Feb futures on MCX last traded up by Rs 43.80 at Rs 3,725/kg.
