Chana Trade Lower At Major Spot Markets

Mumbai (Commodities control) – Chana prices traded lower at major spot markets on Tuesday on sluggish millers' buying activity and increased domestic arrivals. While, commodity gained in selected market, such as Akola, Delhi, Ganj Basoda, Khurai, Nagpur and Sagar market on local buying support.

On other hand, Australia origin new Chana in ready business at both Mumbai and Mundra ports pared early losses by 25 each to Rs 3,650/100kg, respectively due to fresh demand from millers at lower rates and firm cues from futures market. However, demand for processed Chana yet remained thin from consumption centers.

At National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX), chana for April contract settled higher by 1 per cent or Rs.36 at Rs.3,669/100Kgs. Earlier in the day, the contract slid to Rs.3,603 and touched a high of Rs.3,669 per quintal.

Technically, NCDEX Chana April, The trend is down. Hold short positions with a stop loss of 3770. Expect lower range of 3585 – 3450 to be tested.

Australian chana dal priced flat at Rs 4,400/100 Kg against slow trade from wholesalers/retailers counter. Domestic chana dal of Pistol brand quoted unchanged at Rs 4,600, Samrat brand at Rs 5,100 and Angel brand at Rs 5,000. Chana besan offered steady at Rs 2,850/50Kg. Vatana besan traded steady at Rs 1,930/50 Kg. Vatana dal trades flat at Rs 3,300-3,350.

At Rayalaseema, New Kabuli Chana count 85-90 and Coc-2 variety extended losses by Rs 100 at Rs.4,600/100Kgs in loose and Rs.4,700/100Kgs for spot loading. Similarly, it quoted down by Rs 50 at Rs.5,250/100Kgs for Delhi-delivery. Today no Delhi buyers were active in purchasing kabuli chana even at lower rates of around Rs 4,700-4,800/100Kg from Maharashtra.

Kabuli chana of 42-44 and 44-46 counts declined by Rs.150-200/100Kgs at Indore weak demand from purchasers and regular arrivals. While, kabuli Chana 58-60, 60-62, 62-64 count, 64-66 and 66-68 count, all up by Rs.100 but no deal was finalized due to difference in buyers and sellers quotes. Supply totaled at 25,000 bags (Each Bag=100Kgs) today at Madhya Pradesh out of which 7,500 bags arrived at Indore spot market, similar to the previous trading session.

Naya Bazaar market of Delhi remained shut on 13 March 2018 due to protest for sealing issue.
