MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) - Turmeric traded better in Duggirala and Basmatnagar market on Friday, whereas ruled steady in Nizamabad and Erode.

Turmeric rose between Rs 50-150/100kg in Duggirala and Basmatnagar market due to increased off take from upcountry buyers, said local traders.

Sales remained on the average side in Nizamabad and Erode market, said a trader from Nizamabad.

Stockists are buying good quality turmeric as they anticipate prices to trade steady to firm in the near futures as turmeric is around bottom level, he said.

On derivatives the benchmark May contract rose 1.67 percent, or Rs 104 at Rs 6,258/100kg on the National Commodity Derivatives Exchange Ltd (NCDEX).
