NEW DELHI (Commoditiescontrol) – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (UDSA) has kept India’s wheat demand and supply figures for 2017-18 unchanged in its monthly projection published previous day.
As per the USDA’s August report, India started its marketing season 2017-18 with beginning stocks of 95.4 lakh tonnes, production of 960 lakh tonnes in 2016-17 crop year (July-June) and imports as predicted at 40 lakh tonnes, the total supply of wheat in the country will be at 1095.4 lakh tonnes against domestic consumption of 990 lakh tonnes (including feed use), while exports are projected at 5 lakh tonnes.
Hence, the balance stocks or ending stocks of wheat will be at 100.4 lakh tonnes in 2017-18, as per the USDA estimates.
