MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) -Chilli sales at the major markets of Guntur and Khammam were active ahead of summer vacation.
Due to adverse weather conditions most of the crop that arrived to the markets were of inferior quality. Given the shortfall in arrivals of premium variety and demand for the same from traders the prices increased.
We can anticipate the prices of premium variety to increase by further INR 2 to 3 per kg in the coming days. Markets estimate around 54 lakh bags of chilly which is expected to fall once the markets reopen for auction after summer holidays.
Stocks may not cross 53 lakh bags and could have been plummeted further at reopen of the yard. The premium varieties could have been enjoy with another Rs. 2000 in the ensuing days.
Summer vacation for Guntur chilly market a traditional practice begins from May 11 and ends June 9.
At Guntur arrivals stood at 1,83,000 bags. Teja price was steady at INR 75-110/ Kg.
Byadgi arrivals were at 33,000 bags with trading at INR 85-133/ Kg. At Warangal last week arrivals were at 45,000 bags. Teja price traded at INR 70-106/Kg. At Khammam arrivals were at 24,000 bags. Teja prices quoted at INR 72-107/Kg.
