Pakistan Raw cotton Import Declined in April

MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol): Pakistan’s import of raw cotton has increased by 78.53 percent in April 2016, when compared to April 2015 as per the data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics. Whereas, import of raw cotton in the month of April, 2016 declined by 0.75 percent, when compared with March 2016. Month on month overall import of all items in the textile group in the month of April 2016 increased by 11.78 percent.

In the month of April 2016 raw cotton was the second largest imported segment after other textile items within the textile group. Value of raw cotton imports stood at 76.934 million dollars followed by Synthetic and Artificial silk at 60.321 million dollar , Synthetic fiber at 29.988 million dollar and Worn clothing at 12.601 million dollar.

Import Share



In the month of April highest import other textile items had the highest share of 33.21 percent, followed by raw cotton (28.57%), Synthetic & artificial silk (22.4%), Synthetic fiber (11.14 %) and worn clothing (4.68 %).

In the month of April textile group share stood at 7.54 percent to the countries overall imports. This was higher in both month on month as well as year on year terms. Similarly , raw cotton share at 2.16 percent to the countries total import in the month of April, was higher both in month on month and year on year terms.
