MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) - The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in its weekly crop progress report for the week ended 2nd November, 2015 stated that around 50 percent of U.S. cotton crop has been harvested, higher than 49 percent last year same time but below five year average of 54 percent.
The report showed that around 47 percent of the crop is rated good/excellent, while 15 percent of is considered poor/very poor.
The recent weekend rains in the Southern Plains have reportedly caused less damage to the crop. Last week, a large weather system moving through Texas produced heavy rainfall and severe thunderstorms, causing flooding across the state.
Meanwhile, a weather forecaster has projected clear weather in West Texas in the short-term, indicating a sluggish tone in the market.
