Chana Kantewala (Indore):
Chana prices extended rise by Rs 50 at Rs 5,150-5,175/100Kg in Indore following firm cues from futures and improved mill buying activity on immediate requirement for crushing.
Weather concern in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan due to rain, hail and overcast skies from couple of days has also supported the prices.
The recent correction in Chana prices presented invaluable opportunity to the stockist who were looking to hold up on the commodity for longer term.
Corporates and bulk buyers active in Maharashtra and Gujrat have bought sizeable volumes.
It has resulted in draining down of arrivals in the key mandis, making millers to compete even during peak arrivals period.
The demand in dals and besan has been positive after being quiet for over a week.
Going forward, festive demand from Maharashtra and Southern states is expected to hit the market for dals and besan counter.
As on March 11, 2021, NAFED has procured 9288.91 MT of Chana at MSP of Rs 5,100 in Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Gujarat.
Similarly, Tanzania-origin Chana in Mumbai was quoted higher by Rs 100 at Rs 4,800/100Kg on better millers’ trade activity.
Similarly, Sudan and Russia-origin Kabuli Chickpea prices traded higher by Rs 200-250 each, at Rs 4,700-4,850/100Kg and Rs 5,100-5,200, respectively.

White Pea (Kanpur):
New White Pea prices moved higher by Rs 450 to Rs 5,400/100Kg at Kanpur market, due to lower level buying support from bulk buyers against ongoing new arrivals.
As per Kanpur based trader, prices of White Pea is likely to get further support due to negligible carryover stock. Millers-traders will actively purchase as the pipeline is empty. Stockiest activity and bulk buying from big companies may be witnessed further in the coming days.
Moreover, imported White pea stock is also negligible after India banned import of the yellow peas. Customs department has not released the imported pulses yet, as the release will contradict government’s existing policy.
