MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) - India's exports of mustard and castor meal during the month June rose to multi month high amid strong demand from South Korea.
The Solvent Extractors’ Association of India (SEA) on Wednesday released oilmeal export data which showed shipment of mustard meal during June rose sharply at 43,636 tonnes from 3,090 a month ago. Castor meal shipment in June reached 40,591 tonnes versus 2,432 tonnes.
However total oilmeals exports during June 2016 was down 48 percent at 88,514 tonnes compared to 169,699 tonnes same period a year ago.
South Korea was the major buyers of Indian mustard meal during June month with 37,975 tonnes followed by 2,658 tonnes by Vietnam and 1,485 tonnes by Indonesia.
South Korea leading in castor meal shipment as well in June with 38,800 tonnes, while Taiwan (675 tonnes), France (514 tonnes) and Sri Lanka (490) was the other major buyers.
The export of oilmeals during June 2016 is reported at 88,514 tonnes compared to 169,699 tonnes i.e. down by 48 percent. The overall export of oilmeals during April to June 2016 is reported at 186,293 tonnes compared to 473,676 tonnes during the same period of last year i.e. down by 61 percent due to lesser availability of oilseeds for crushing and continuous disparity in exporting oilmeals in international market.
South Korea, Iran and Thailand – Major Importers of Oilmeals:-
Oilmeal import by South Korea from India during April-June 2016 is reported at 123,977 tonnes compared to 305,849 tonnes; consisting 48,277 tonnes of rapeseed meal and 75,700 tonnes of castor meal.
Port-wise Export : April – June 2016
The export from Kandla is reported at 123,857 tonnes (66%), followed by Kolkata handled 39,352 tonnes (21%), Mumbai including JNPT handled 5,150 tonnes (3%), and Mundra handled 17,934 tonnes (10%).
