MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) - South Africa is likely to produce 35,445 tonnes of dry edible bean in 2016, which is 0,84% or 300 tonnes less than the 35,745 tons of the previous forecast. The area estimate of dry beans is 34,400 hectare, with an expected yield of 1,03 tonne/ha.
This is the lowest seeded area in over 30 years and the first time since 2007 that production has dropped under 40,000 tonnes.
