MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) – There are lot of talks and rumors making rounds about cotton production estimates for the 2014-15, even as Cotton Advisory Board (CAB) has recently revised lower its output projection by 10 lakh bales to 390 lakh bales.
Still there is lot of confusion among industry participants who are continuously predicting production to be lower. Hence, commoditiescontrol has decided to carry-out a survey on production outlook by involving prominent players from the industry.
In our bid to understand the domestic cotton scenario, we have asked a question “India 2014-15 Cotton Production?” to 900 participants who are associated with cotton trade. The survey includes people who are into cotton trading, broking, textiles, importers and exporters and finally we are sharing their views with our readers.
The survey suggested that the fall in cotton production was attributed to low yield in the country, especially in Gujarat and Maharashtra.
Conclusion: According to majority, cotton production in the country will be around 375 lakh bales. Around 315-320 lakh bales of cotton is already arrived in the market yards or are with the CCI warehouses (83 Lakh bales of the total 86 Lakh bales procured). Around 55-60 Lakh bales of cotton is expected to arrive in the next five month i.e by the end of cotton season on September 2015.
