US cotton net sales reductions for July 19-25 at 1,085,800 RB, hit marketing-year low

NEW DELHI,Aug 01: US Upland cotton net sales reductions were at 1,085,800 running bales (RB) for the week ended July 25, a marketing-year low, in the marketing year 2023/2024 starting August 1.

US Upland cotton net sales reductions were at 74,200 RB for the week ended July 18.

Net sales reductions of Upland totaling 1,085,800 RB for 2023/2024 resulting in increases primarily for Indonesia (3,000 RB, including decreases of 1,100 RB), Mexico (3,000 RB), Japan (1,400 RB), Thailand (700 RB), and Honduras (400 RB), were more than offset by reductions primarily for China (597,300 RB), Pakistan (369,100 RB), and Vietnam (126,100 RB).

Net sales of 1,355,700 RB for 2024/2025 primarily for China (650,100 RB), Pakistan (419,800 RB), Vietnam (215,200 RB), India (22,800 RB), and Turkey (13,600 RB), were offset by reductions for El Salvador (3,000 RB) and South Korea (700 RB).

Exports of 129,900 RB were down 1 percent from the previous week and 11 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to China (27,900 RB), Vietnam (18,400 RB), Pakistan (14,300 RB), Indonesia (14,000 RB), and Mexico (10,100 RB).

Pima

No net sales for 2023/2024 of Pima were reported for the week. Net sales of 4,500 RB for 2024/2025 were primarily for Pakistan (2,900 RB), India (500 RB), China (400 RB), the United Arab Emirates (400 RB), and Thailand (100 RB). Exports of 4,600 RB were up noticeably from the previous week and up 12 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to India (2,900 RB), Pakistan (900 RB), Vietnam (500 RB), and Turkey (300 RB).

Optional Origin Sales: For 2023/2024, the current outstanding balance of 4,400 RB, all Bangladesh. For 2024/2025, the current outstanding balance of 8,800 RB, all Pakistan.

Exports for Own Account: For 2023/2024, exports for own account totaling 1,300 RB to China were applied to new or outstanding sales. The current exports for own account outstanding balance of 105,500 RB are for China (78,600 RB), Vietnam (14,700 RB), Pakistan (7,300 RB), South Korea (3,700 RB), and Turkey (1,200 RB).
