Mumbai, May 08 (Commoditiescontrol):Scientists are predicting that an El Nino weather pattern will likely occur by June 2023, bringing hotter temperatures to many parts of the world. Although it is still unclear when the El Nino will begin, how strong it will be, or how long it will last, but even a mild El Nino can have significant effects on precipitation and temperature patterns.
El Nino is tracked by measuring temperatures in the Pacific Ocean, and currently, the water in the eastern and central Pacific is warmer than usual. This warming trend is expected to continue, leading scientists to believe that El Nino conditions are likely to happen in the coming months.
Another weather pattern called the Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD), is currently neutral, but scientists predict it will fluctuate during the monsoon season.
Although El Nino is a natural event, it may become more extreme in the future due to climate change. This could cause more rainfall in some areas and more droughts in others. Southern South America and the Horn of Africa could experience more rain, while Australia, Indonesia, and parts of Southern Asia, including India, could experience damaging droughts.
