Chana Kantewala (Indore):
Chana prices extended rally by Rs 200 at Rs 5,575-5,600/100Kg in Indore following firm cues from futures, due to improved buying activity as demand and sale counter in dal-besan witnessed good action this week.
Prices are likely to get further support due to lower output and lesser inventories due to rising covid cases across India. The pandemic-led restrictions have led to call upon partial or complete lockdown in few states to control the spread.
Meanwhile, Ramadan demand is kicking in and has led Chana millers to rush for more stocks. Chana availability is tighter as the fresh arrivals diverted to NAFED since its buying was initiated. Rajasthan arrivals are lower than anticipated earlier which is leading to expectations of tighter stocks post peak arrivals. The processors and stockist looking to accumulate chana stocks.
As on April 14, 2021, NAFED has procured 248,990.97 MT of Chana at MSP of Rs 5,100 in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Imported Masoor (Mumbai):
Canada crimson variety Masoor along with Australia Masoor in Mumbai continued to trade higher by Rs 150-175 each at Rs 6,225-6,275/100Kg and Rs 6,375, respectively on improved mills’ buying support and depleting stock of imported Masoor.
Similarly, Canada crimson variety Masoor at Hajira-Mundra port inched up by Rs 150-175 at Rs 6,225/100kg and Rs 6,150, respectively, while at Kandla it was priced higher by Rs 150 at Rs 6,100/100Kg.
Demand and sale counter in processed Masoor witnessed good activity. Masoor dal traded higher at Rs 7,550/100Kg.
Consumption demand is likely to increase due to cheaper masoor as compared with Tur. Amid lesser availability of Tur, crushing is more likely to shift towards Masoor.
Moreover, depleting stock of imported Masoor and no overseas supply due to higher parity is likely to further support prices. Corporates and importers continue to accumulate stocks in the domestic market and shifted to crush domestic Masoor due to less imported stock.
There is sharp tightness in availability of Masoor due to below expectation arrivals and less inventories due to rising covid cases across India has led to call upon partial or complete lockdown in few states to control the spread.
