Chana Kantewala (Indore):
Chana prices moved up for second straight week by Rs 350 at Rs 5,400/100Kg in Indore following firm cues from futures, due to improved buying activity on immediate requirement for crushing as demand and sale counter in dal-besan witnessed this week against ongoing arrivals.
Meanwhile, demand for Chana dal and besan witnessed limited. However, prices are likely to get support due to lower output and on expectations of better demand during the forthcoming festival season amid lower inventories due to complete lockdown in some of key consumption centres because of rise in covid cases again.
Chana procurement initiated by NAFED has put pressure on spot availability of chana for the processors and stockists looking to accumulate chana stocks.
As on April 6, 2021, NAFED has procured 1,79,523.19 MT of Chana at MSP of Rs 5,100 in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
Similarly, Tanzania-origin Chana in Mumbai also moved higher by Rs 400 at Rs 5,050-5,100/100Kg amid mill buying activity.
Sudan and Russia-origin Kabuli Chickpea prices traded higher by Rs 350-450 at Rs 5,200-5,400/100Kg and Rs 5,400-5,500, respectively.
Dollar variety Chana also ruled higher by Rs 500 at Rs 8,500-9,000/100Kg in Indore. Similarly, 42-44 & 44-46 count Kabuli Chana also sharply up by Rs 750-850 each at Rs 9,650/100Kg and Rs 9,500, respectively.

White Pea (Kanpur):
New White Pea prices gained Rs 200 at Rs 5,150/100Kg (dal quality) and Rs 5,300 (40% filter quality) at Kanpur market, due to good demand from local and outstation markets.
As per Kanpur based trader, prices of White Pea is likely to get further support due to negligible carryover stock. Millers-traders along with stockiest and bulk buying from big companies were active in purchasing as the pipeline is empty.
Moreover, imported White pea stock is also negligible after India banned import of the yellow peas. Customs department has not released the imported pulses yet, as the release will contradict government’s existing policy.
