Burma Lemon Tur:
Tur Lemon variety of Burma-origin traded higher by Rs 150 to Rs 5,700/100Kg, in Mumbai amid mill buying activity at lower rates on immediate requirement for crushing.
Similarly, domestic variety Tur moved up at Rs 6,050-6,100/100Kg at benchmark market Akola.
Government is yet to decide on extension on the validity of licenses for Tur import beyond December 31, 2020.
Meanwhile, some stockiest were active at prevailing rates in selected markets due to good quality arrivals. However, arrivals of new Tur in domestic market were below expectations. New Tur crop is expected to be less as compared to last year due to fewer yields.
Government procurement expected to begin in the current month at MSP of Rs 6000/100Kg will likely support Tur prices.
However, actual demand in Tur dal is reported to be thin. Sentiments are still under pressure due to availability of imported stocks at cheaper rates, ongoing new domestic arrivals and government’s active liquidation of old procured stock.
In Burma, Tur Lemon and Linkhey varieties also gained on buying enquiries from local and India at lower rates on hopes that Government will extend validity of licenses for Tur import.

Additional 10% margin has been imposed in short sell of Chana. NCDEX Chana futures are likely to show some support at low levels.

Similarly, Canada crimson variety Masoor at Hazira-Mundra port also gained each by Rs 200 at Rs 5,075/100kg, while at Kandla, it was priced higher by Rs 200 at Rs 5,050/100Kg.
Prices got support as import duty of Masoor from Canada is 33% and from USA 55% because no extension has been given on reduced duty import by the Government of India beyond 31st December, 2020.
Moreover, limited ready stock of domestic Masoor and arrivals of new masoor may commence after holi in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
Meanwhile, availability of imported stock and thin offtake in processed Masoor will limit the gains.
Sowing is also progressing well and was 4.05% higher at 16.19 lakh Ha on Dec 30 Vs 15.56 lakh Ha in the similar period last year amid favourable weather conditions.
Vessel M V PATRICK carrying 30,520 tonnes of Australia Nipper Variety Masoor arrived at Kolkata Port on 30th December, 2020.
Vessel M V ARAGONA carrying around 24,000 MT Masoor from Canada arrived at Kolkata port and discharging its cargo. Vessel is likely to take 3-4 days more to complete its discharge.
