Burma Lemon Tur:

Tur Lemon variety of Burma-origin traded firm by Rs 50-75 to Rs 5,550-5,575/100Kg, in Mumbai amid mill buying activity at lower rates on immediate requirement for crushing.

On other hand, domestic variety Tur remained unchanged at Rs 5,700-5,800/100Kg at benchmark market Akola.

Sentiments are under pressure as overseas supply from various origins are available at cheaper rates and government agencies are liquidating old procured Tur stock.
Meanwhile arrivals of new Tur in domestic market were below expectations and of average quality. New Tur crop is expected to be lesser as compared to last year due to fewer yields.

Millers prefer to crush old Tur compare to new Tur because of difference in prices and quality.

Nafed has decided to sell PSF Tur of Kharif 2019 @ MSP (Rs 5,800/100Kg) of Kharif 2019 with maximum discount range of 5% from all available locations across the states.

Maharashtra has been given a target of 2.89 lakh tonne (lt) of tur procurement, which would be undertaken by various marketing agencies of the state government and the Maha Farmers Produce Company (FPC) - the apex body of FPCs in the state.

Karnataka Government is set to Procure 20 Qtls of Tur from Each Farmer under MSP of Rs 6000 from Jan 1 to 30.

Nafed is set to start Tur procurement from January 15 in Gujarat.

Traders will keep a close eye on Government decision ahead on extension validity of licenses for Tur import from December 31, 2020.

Chana Kantewala (Indore):

Chana prices widened losses by Rs 200-225 at Rs 4,550-4,575/100Kg in Indore following weak cues from futures and thin mill buying.

Demand and sale counter in Chana dal-besan reported sluggish activity.

Moreover, Chana prices felt pressure due to ongoing rampant sowing pace and Nafed holding old procured stock.

Sowing is progressing well and was 8% higher at 102.89 lakh Ha on Dec 22 Vs 95.24 lakh Ha in the similar period last year, amid favourable weather conditions.

However there’s two months go before arrivals start trickling in.
