Burma Lemon Tur: Desi turin Akola market gained for third straight week by Rs 125 to Rs 5,650-5,675/100Kg due to improved mill buying. Meanwhile the seasonal arrivals have not picked up pace due to lesser yield. This slow-paced arrival may continue further for month in local markets. Meanwhile Tur Lemon variety of Burma-origin both old and new slipped Rs 50 to Rs 5,000/100Kg and Rs 5,050, respectively in Mumbaiamid slack trade, as millers preferred domestic Tur over imported variety. However, activity from millers buying was limited, as demand and sale counter in Tur dal reported thin activitydue to ongoing availability through Public distribution system (PDS). But, consumption is likely to be rise in near future. NAFED Procured 523985.52 MT (PSS)/ 125337.98 MT (PSF) Tur In Kharif-2019 Season, so far, at MSP of Rs 5,800. In near term, Tur prices are likely to trade range bound due to matching demand and supply. Tur prices are likely to get support due to lesser carryover stock. The millers/traders have been trading hand-to-mouth due to liquidity crunch and Government policy. Further price direction will depend on monsoon.

Burma Urad: Burma Urad FAQ new variety traded higher by Rs 150 at Rs 6,100/100Kg, in Mumbai, due to millers’ buying at lower rates. Similarly in Chennai, Burma Urad SQ variety also moved up Rs 300 to Rs 7,050/100Kg. FAQ variety upped Rs 150 to Rs 6,000. Limited ready stock of imported Urad, no fresh supplies from overseas and steady arrivals of summer/rabi crop has supported prices. However mills were interested in purchasing for immediate crushing requirements only, as demand and sale counters in Urad dal reported limited participation amid cash crunch. Supreme Court Hearing on the pulses import case to take place on 17th June. Government shortened the deadline for Urad Import Annual Quota Of 4 lakh MT by 6 months to 31st August, 2020. As per Burma-based trader, Indian buyers have sidelined and are interested in purchasing at lower rates for July shipment. Previously, buyers would purchase some quantity of Urad and hold the stock in Burma against deadline for Urad Import Annual Quota of 4 lakh MT to 31st August, 2020. Stock of Urad was around 3 lakh tonnes. Traders are of the opinion that Urad prices may get further support of Rs 300-400/100Kg, due to zero supply pressure from overseas in near future.

Chana Kantewala (Indore): Chana prices traded firm by Rs 25-50 in a narrow range at Rs 4,175/100Kg at Indore. This was due to mill buying, to meet immediate crushing requirements, as some activity on demand and sale counter in Chana dal/besan was witnessed. Spot chana was seen tracking fluctuations in Chana futures. Nafed will procure Chana till 15th June in Madhya Pradesh.Increased Pace of Chana procurement, by government agency at MSP, and zero import quota of yellow peas for the current fiscal will support the prices. As per market talk, current level of Chana prices is very attractive to purchase for millers/traders/stockiest. NAFED's stock liquidation at selected states and stock holding will continue to pressurize buyer sentiments at higher level. As on June 10, 2020, NAFED has procured 15,46,583.98 MT of Chana at MSP of Rs 4,875.

Imported Masoor (Mumbai): Canada crimson variety and Australia origin Masoor fell for second straight week by Rs 50 to Rs 5,500-5,600 and Rs 5,650/100Kg, respectively at Mumbai, as millers refrained from purchasing at prevailing rates due to unattractive crushing margins. However, some speculative buying was witnessed at lower rates. Upcoming cheaper overseas supplies, ongoing rabi crop arrivals and thin demand in processed Masoor further pressurised buyer sentiments. On the other hand, domestic Masoor traded mixed in major market as per quality due to limited buying from local and outstation traders and millers at prevailing rates amid less ratio profit margin and ongoing arrivals. As on June 10, 2020, NAFED has procured 1433.23 MT of Masoor at MSP of Rs 4,800.
