MUMBAI (Commmoditiescontrol) - In NCDEX July futures contract, jeera price on 17 th June 2019 stood at INR 17,360 per quintal which declined to INR 17,315 per quintal on 21 st June 2019. During the previous week, the price stood at INR

17,560 per quintal levels.

The decline can be attributed to limited demand from overseas market.
During the week, Unjha and Jodhpur markets received 52,400 bags. The price of cumin in Unjha (modal) fluctuated in between INR 152-154 per kg levels.
During first three months of 2019 India exported around 41,246 MT of cumin as compared to 49,201 MT exported during the same period last year. Of the total, export to Vietnam accounted for about 20%.
Significantly, Egypt imported 2822 MT of Indian cumin as compared to 1588 MT in same period last year, an increase of 77%.
March 2019 average export price of Indian cumin stood at USD 2149 per MT as compared to Jan 2019 level of USD 2551 per MT. During May 2019, export price hiked to around USD 2400 per MT. Currently, China is importing cumin directly from India due to cross-border issues with Vietnam.
Rainfall status

Rainfall in major cumin regions of Gujarat witnessed 2-3 times above normal level. Henceforth, stock position with farmers may face quality issues.
