MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) - Food grain production during 2017-18 in Maharashtra is estimated to fall 20.32% to 137.27 lakh tonnes versus 172.29 lakh tonnes a year ago, according to the fourth advance estimate shared by an official from the state farm department.

Pulses output (Tur, Urad, Moong & Chana) pegged at 31.98 lakh tonnes, sharply down by over 28% from 44.73 lakh tonnes in 2016-17 mainly due to fall in sowing areas as farmers had switched to other crops amid lower prices.
