MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) – Pulses import at Chennai port during the month of June fell sharply by over 90% to 6,840 tonnes as against 73,776 tonnes during the same period a year ago, according to data compiled from shipping agency.
Highest 3,888 tonnes of urad reached at the port followed by 1,296 tonnes of tur and 480 tonnes of chana among major imported pulses.
The sharp drop in imports was mainly attributed to ample stock in the country followed by various restrictions put by India government to curb/limit imports.
