MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) – Cotton Association of India in its latest release has raised cotton production and export estimates for the current season 2017-18 (Oct-Sept), said Cotton Association of India (CAI) in its latest release.
According to CAI, the country has received around 93.15%, or 340 lakh bales (170kg each) of cotton as on May 31 of current season, started from October 2017, from estimated production of 365 lakh bales.
The association has pegged cotton export for the season higher at 70 lakh bales as against 65 lakh bales in April estimate.
The report revealed that cotton stock in the country as on May 31 (with ginners, MNC’s, CCI, MCX) stood at 42.50 lakh bales. Stocks with mills estimated at 58 lakh bales.
Around 216 lakh bales of cotton has been consumed by domestic mills as on May 31, as per CAI.
The country has shipped around 62 lakh bales till May end, while imported 8.50 lakh bales.
