MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) – India cotton consumption during Oct-Mar (2017-18) declined by over 9% at 131.40 lakh bales against 144.53 lakh bales during the same period a year ago, according to latest data (provisional) released by textile ministry.
Meanwhile cotton yarn production during the fiscal year Apr-Mar (2017-18) totalled up 0.25% at 4065.25 million kilogram (kg) versus 4054.85 million kg last year.
Cotton stock with mills as on March 2018 was estimated at 51.57 lakh bales, down from 52.25 lakh bales during the corresponding month a year ago.
On the other hand cotton yarn stock with mills was pegged at 130.60 million kg compared with 147.20 million kg previous year.
