DELHI (Commoditiescontrol) - The Central Organisation for Oil Industry and Trade (COOIT) has pegged India's mustard output for 2017-18 at 70.5 lakh tonnes.
In Rajasthan, the largest mustard producing State, output has been pegged at 25.5 lakh tonnes by COOIT.
Similarly, in Uttar Pradesh the production is estimated at 12.5 lakh tonnes, followed by Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh at 8.90 lakh tonnes, Punjab and Haryana at 7.75 lakh tonnes, West Bengal at 4.75 lakh tonnes and Gujarat at 3.5 lakh tonnes. Production in other States is estimated at 9 lakh tonnes.
The carry over stock is estimated at 4.5 lakh tonnes.
Mustard is the main oilseed crop for the Rabi season which is planted on more than 80% area covered under oilseeds. Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Gujarat are the highest sown states of mustard seed accounting for more than 70% of total mustard acreage in the country.
