NEW DELHI (Commodities control) Bundi mandi of Rajasthan has received new wheat first time during this season in Rajasthan. Second new wheat recipient state Rajasthan can expect good arrival only after 15 March. Last season wheat prices inched up in Rajasthan mandis. But the prices declined by Rs. 40 per quintal in Delhi as stockists rushed for selling their stocks. Stable trend was noted in Uttar Pradesh and Mandhya Pradesh mandis.

A trader from Bundi mandis Mr. Uttam Jethwani told that 50 bags of new wheat arrived in Bundi. It was auctioned at Rs. 1675 per quintal, higher than old wheat. Quality was good and moisture was also lower at 12-13 percent. He said that Rajasthan mandis have to wait for atleast two weeks for good arrival of new wheat. Wheat crop is getting mature so harvesting and supply will increase gradually in the want of arrangements. Rajasthan may see storm and light rains due to current weather conditions. It may also delay new crop. Regular heavy arrival is expected only after Holi on 28 March.

Last season’s wheat gained up to Rs. 15 per quintal as millers and stockists buying old wheat consider current prices very attractive. Old wheat remains in demand till June as new wheat may not be good for consumption for few months. However, old what declined in Delhi mandis. The prices reduced Rs. 40 per quintal in Delhi on Friday evening. According to stockists and farmers rushed to mandis to clear their balance stocks as new wheat arrival will increase in next month. It may dampened prices until government’s procurement which will begin only in April in all northern states barring MP. Wheat procurement is expected in begin from mid of March in MP. The prices remained stable in other MP and UP mandis.
