NEW DELHI (Commodities control) Mixed price trend prevailed today in spot wheat trade. The prices lost up to Rs. 30 per quintal in Rajasthan mandis due to poor quality wheat. But the prices gained further in Bhopal and Kanpur due to active buying of stockists. New wheat was traded stable in Indore mandis. Total wheat arrival was estimated at 45000-50000 bags in producing areas of Madhya Pradesh.

Traders from Rajasthan told that blackish, powdery and Danki wheat arrival was dominating in Hadouti and other regions of Rajasthan. Stockists and millers were avoiding poor quality wheat so the prices came under pressure. Mill quality wheat lowered Rs. 30 to Rs. 1575-1600 per quintal in Kota mandis of Hadouti region. The region is known for Rajasthani wheat. Other mandis also noted down fall in wheat prices. Millers and stockicts were interested to buy last season’ wheat. But they back tracked for poor quality wheat which cannot be stored even for few weeks.

However, the prices gained Rs. 25 per quintal further in Bhopal mandis. Around 8000 bags old and 6000 bags of new wheat was arrived in Bhopal division. Strong demand from flour millers and stockists have supported price rise. Old wheat is considered better than new wheat is not suitable for human consumption atleast for two months so millers have to use old wheat till April. Higher MSP of Rs. 1975 also sent strong signal to the markets. Traders expected that wheat prices will increase atleast Rs. 100-150 per quintal wheat government will begin procurement through it’s agencies. The prices remained stable in Indore mandi where new wheat arrived. Indore mandi noted arrival of 2000 bags. Total arrival in MP was at around Rs. 45000-50000 quintal.
