Cardamom Prices Stabilise amid Reduced Arrivals

Mumbai (Commodities Control) - Spot cardamom prices shot up Rs 60 per Kg after two straight sessions of decline in Vandanmedu of Kerala. The auction centre reported arrivals of 81.6 tons of cardamom which is 24% lower than prior session.
Idukki reported arrivals of 106 tons in the previous session. Around 79 tons of fragrant spice was sold against the arrivals today.
Vandanmedu registered an average price of Rs 1462.21 per Kg and the highest bid was quoted at Rs 2323. The highest bid went to Rs 1401 per Kg in the last session.

Traders have reported that farmers are holding back stocks amid declining prices. Although improved lower level buying was witnessed today.

There is an expectation of 23,000 tons of cardamom output, up 45% from last year.
