Turmeric-Nizamabad Mandi Shut, Prices Decline in Hingoli

Mumbai (Commodities Control) - Nizamabad market yard of Turmeric in Andhra Pradesh has been shut for 15 days amid suring Covid-9 cases. Meanwhile prices were weak in Maharashtra amid a dull trading session. Turmeric prices collapsed Rs 200 in Hingoli of Maharashtra.

Meanwhile, NCDEX August futures of Turmeric slipped Rs 16 to end at Rs 5840 per Quintal.

Hingoli registered arrivals of 2500 bags today. Gatta variety dropped Rs 100-200 to be quoted at Rs 5800-6000 per Quintal, while Finger variety was priced at Rs 4900-5300 per Quintal, down Rs 200.

Meanwhile Erode mandi of Tamil Nadu has resumed operations to dull trade, after remaining shut for four days. Mandi reported arrivals of 2400 bags of medium quality turmeric, out of which 80% of the supplies were sold. Although prices were generally steady.

Chalu Finger variety in Erode was quoted at Rs 5,259-6,509 and Root variety was priced at Rs 4,599-5,555 per Quintal.

According to the traders, trade has been dull amid surge in Covid-19 cases and spice manufacturers are purchasing as per their requirements.
