MUMBAI, 18 Jan (Commoditiescontrol): Cold weather in Saurashtra, Kutch, and North Gujarat has led to restricted arrivals of new castor seeds, which has kept prices firm in local markets. The firm prices have encouraged farmers and stockists to increase selling activity. Over the past two days, daily arrivals have exceeded 20,000 bags.
Today, castor seed prices remained stable, with no significant changes. Market trends in the coming days will depend on how arrivals progress.
In Gujarat, the total arrival of castor seeds was around 18,000 bags (1 bag = 35 kg), with an additional 3,000 bags from Rajasthan and 1,000 bags directly delivered to mills, resulting in a total of 22,000 bags traded. Prices for castor seeds were steady at ₹1,250–₹1,270 per 20 kg.
As the futures market was closed today, millers refrained from altering prices. Notably, N.K. quoted a consistent price of ₹1,315 per 20 kg throughout the day, Jagana Shippers maintained ₹1,300 per 20 kg, and Kandla quoted ₹1,295 per 20 kg. Similarly, castor oil for Kandla delivery was priced at ₹1,318 per 10 kg on a ready-delivery basis, with no fluctuations reported since morning.
The castor seed market remains stable, with traders closely monitoring weather conditions and arrival trends for potential changes in price movements.
