Madhya Pradesh Sees Decline in Kapas Arrivals, Prices of Cottonseed and Cotton Candy Dip

Indore, January 18 (Commodities Control): Cotton arrivals in Madhya Pradesh saw a decrease of 2,000 bales on Saturday, the last trading day of the week. Despite the drop in arrivals, cotton prices remained stable for Kapas, while prices of cottonseed and cotton candy saw a decline. The weekly review shows a significant decrease in arrivals compared to the previous week.

Today, the arrival of new Kapas in the mandis of Madhya Pradesh ranged between 6,000 to 7,000 bales, which is 2,000 bales less than the previous day. Despite this, the prices of Kapas remained stable at Rs 6,300 to Rs 7,300 per quintal. Cottonseed prices, however, dropped by Rs 50 per quintal, with current prices ranging from Rs 3,100 to Rs 3,350 per quintal, influenced by a slight decrease in demand.

The price of cotton candy also saw a decline today. The price of 73 RD cotton with 9% moisture dropped by Rs 100, now quoted between Rs 52,300 and Rs 52,500 per candy (1 candy = 356 kg). Similarly, 75 RD cotton with 9% moisture was quoted at Rs 53,200 to Rs 53,500 per candy, a decrease of Rs 100 on the upper level.

Weekly Review:

During the week ending today, the arrival of Kapas in Madhya Pradesh's mandis was recorded at 47,000 to 53,000 bales, a significant decline from 80,000 to 86,000 bales in the previous week. The price of Kapas at the lower level rose by Rs 300, while at the upper level, it dropped by Rs 100. Cottonseed prices increased by Rs 50, but cotton candy prices weakened, with 73 RD cotton seeing a drop of Rs 200 at the lower level and Rs 300 at the upper level, and 75 RD cotton falling by Rs 300 per candy.
