MUMBAI, 09 Dec (Commoditiescontrol): The peanut market has shown stability, with strong demand for crushing quality peanuts driven by a firm market for peanut oil. However, there has been little demand for other quality grades of peanuts, leading to a steady but unchanged market trend. Meanwhile, the government's procurement of peanuts, which has been ongoing for the past month, remains slow, causing frustration among farmers.
In the Gondal market, approximately 31,070 bags of peanuts were traded out of a total arrival of around 40,000 bags. The price for average quality peanuts ranged from ₹1080 to ₹1270 per 20 kilograms, while the best quality peanuts were priced between ₹1100 and ₹1215 per 20 kilograms. Meanwhile, in the Rajkot market, 90,000 bags (each weighing 35 kg) remained pending. The price for average quality peanuts in Rajkot was between ₹850 and ₹1220 per 20 kilograms, and the best quality peanuts ranged from ₹850 to ₹1210 per 20 kilograms. Saurashtra saw a total arrival of about 60,000 to 65,000 bags today.
In North Gujarat’s Disa market, 13,344 bags arrived, with prices ranging from ₹1000 to ₹1461 per 20 kilograms. The Panthawada market saw 11,500 bags arriving, with prices ranging from ₹1000 to ₹1325 per 20 kilograms. The Palanpur market reported an arrival of 8,672 bags, with prices between ₹1050 and ₹1260 per 20 kilograms.
The market has been stable, but with farmers dissatisfied by the slow pace of government procurement, the outlook remains mixed.
