New Delhi, December 4 (CommoditiesControl): Cotton prices in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana slowed on Wednesday due to weaker demand from spinning mills, although daily arrivals of Kapas remained stable in these states.
Traders reported that while the daily arrival of Kapas has increased this week, the high moisture content in the new crop has limited purchases by the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI), which is buying only in smaller quantities. Additionally, CCI continues to sell cotton purchased last year in the domestic market. The weak purchases by spinning mills have caused cotton prices to soften in both states. However, prices of Kapas and cottonseed have remained stable in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
In the domestic futures market, there was a mixed trend. On the NCDEX, the price of Kapas for the April-25 futures contract rose by Rs 4, reaching Rs 1,528 per 20 kg. On the MCX, cotton prices in the November-24 futures contract weakened by Rs 10, settling at Rs 55,350 per candy.
Kapas arrivals in these states totaled 78,000 bales, with 8,000 bales arriving in Andhra Pradesh and 70,000 bales in Telangana. This matched the previous day's arrival numbers.
