New Delhi, November 9 (Commodities Control): Cotton prices held steady in Maharashtra on Saturday due to limited demand from spinning mills, while daily Kapas arrivals in the state’s mandis decreased.
Traders note that farmers are reluctant to sell Kapas at low prices, holding back higher-quality supplies. Consequently, mandis are seeing more moisture-laden cotton. Despite post-Diwali expectations, local demand for cotton yarn remains subdued, prompting spinning mills to limit their purchases to immediate requirements, reducing the likelihood of significant price increases. Kapas and Cottonseed prices have also stabilized across the state.
Today, Kapas arrivals in Maharashtra’s mandis stood at 18,000 bales, down from 20,000 bales on the previous trading day.
