Indore, October 4 (Commodities Control): The markets of Madhya Pradesh are witnessing a steady increase in the arrival of new Kapas, reaching between 5,500 to 6,000 bales today. However, prices have declined significantly due to the moisture content in the Kapas, attributed to recent rains.
Millers report that the moisture level in the new Kapas has reached up to 10 percent, impacting market prices negatively. The increased arrivals, which are up by 1,300 to 1,500 bales from previous trading days, have led to a decline in both cottonseed and candy prices as well.
During auctions, the price of new Kapas dropped by Rs 200 to Rs 500 per quintal, now ranging from Rs 4,000 to Rs 7,600. Similarly, cottonseed prices decreased by Rs 50, bringing them down to Rs 3,000 at the lower end and Rs 3,300 at the upper level.
The ongoing moisture issues are also affecting the prices of both old and new cotton candy in Madhya Pradesh. Currently, the price of old 29 mm 75 RD cotton, with 9% moisture, is quoted at Rs 57,200 to Rs 57,500, reflecting a decline of Rs 600. The price of 28.5 mm cotton stands at Rs 56,800 to Rs 57,000 per candy.
New 70 RD, 72 RD, and 73 RD cotton, also exhibiting 10% moisture, have entered the markets. Prices for new 70 RD cotton have fallen by Rs 500 to Rs 700, now trading between Rs 52,000 and Rs 52,300. New 72 RD cotton is quoted at Rs 53,800, down by Rs 200, while it remains stable at Rs 54,200 at the upper end. For new 73 RD cotton, prices range from Rs 54,500 to Rs 54,700.
