New Delhi, August 3 (Commodities Control): Cotton prices in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana remained stable on Saturday due to subdued purchases by spinning mills, coupled with a decrease in daily Kapas arrivals in these states.
In Andhra Pradesh, cotton-producing areas are experiencing cloudy weather, while Telangana enjoys clear skies. Despite a rise in cotton prices in the international market on Friday, local prices have remained stable, primarily due to the limited sales activity from ginning mills in these states. Traders note that, although there was a slight uptick in global cotton prices, local conditions have led to a cautious approach, with spinning mills purchasing cotton in limited quantities. This caution is attributed to weaker-than-normal demand for yarn.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) reports that rainfall has been significantly above average in both states from June 1 to August 2, with Telangana receiving 26 percent more rain than usual and Andhra Pradesh experiencing 40 percent more rain.
Today's cotton arrivals in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana totaled 1,100 bales. Specifically, Andhra Pradesh received 1,000 bales, while Telangana saw 100 bales. This is a reduction from the 1,600 bales that arrived on the previous trading day.
