Jaipur, Nov 25 (Commoditiescontrol) Mustard seed complex extended its bearish trend on Friday as the acreage of oilseed increased compared to last year.
Prices of mustard seed with 42% conditioned fell Rs 50 to Rs 6850-6875 per quintal (excluding GST) in the benchmark market of Jaipur.
Mustard oil expeller prices further fell Rs 11 to Rs 1392-1393 per 10kg and prices of Kachchi Ghani also dropped Rs 11 to Rs 1402-1403 per 10kg.
Mustard cake prices dropped Rs 30 to Rs 2620-2625 per quintal.
Arrivals of mustard seed were estimated one lakh bags in Rajasthan, 20,000 bags in Madhya Pradesh,35,000 bags in Uttar Pradesh, 20,000 bags in Haryana and Punjab, 5,000 bags in Gujarat, and 70,000 bags in other markets. Total arrivals across the country were around 2.5 lakh bags of 80 kg each, down 75000 bags from previous session.
Area under mustard seed rose by 8.73 lakh ha to 70.89 lakh ha as on Nov 25 this rabi season.
Oilseeds: About 75.77 lakh ha area coverage has been reported compared to 66.71 lakh ha during the corresponding period of last year. Thus 9.06 lakh ha more area has been covered compared to last year. Higher area is reported from the States of Madhya Pradesh (3.80 lakh ha), Rajasthan (3.62 lakh ha), West Bengal (1.78 lakh ha), Gujarat (1.13 lakh ha), Uttar Pradesh (0.29 lakh ha), Nagaland (0.07 lakh ha), Maharashtra (0.02 lakh ha) and Tamil Nadu (0.02 lakh ha). Less area is reported from the States of Telangana (0.70 lakh ha), Assam (0.55 lakh ha), Jharkhand (0.14 lakh ha), Chhattisgarh (0.08 lakh ha), Bihar (0.08 lakh ha), Andhra Pradesh (0.04 lakh ha), Karnataka (0.04 lakh ha), Odisha (0.03 lakh ha) and Uttarakhand (0.02 lakh ha).
