Mumbai, 30 Jun (Commoditiescontrol): Chana or chickpea prices traded higher at select local markets led by mills buying the commodity, to fulfill immediate crushing requirement.

Similarly, Tanzania Chana rise by Rs 50 to Rs 4,450-4,500/100Kg on millers buying due to steep discount as compared to domestic varieties, slow down in domestic arrivals.

Meanwhile, demand in dal-besan was still subdued. Movement of Chana prices will depend on further buying support in dal-besan. Traders hope that demand for besan will revive with the onset of monsoon season.

At Indore, Kabuli Chickpea of 40-42, 42-44 & 44-46 counts moved higher by Rs 100/100Kg on exporters buying support, slowdown in arrivals, less domestic crop and negligible carry over stock.

Export demand was good from Dubai, Saudi & Algeria. Export demand was good from Gulf buyers due to short supply of higher counts Kabuli in Mexico, America and Canada. 42-44 count kabuli Chickpea was quoted at 1340 FOB basis for Nhava-sheva/Mundra.

As on June 30, 2022, NAFED has procured 14,16,430 MT of Chana at MSP of Rs 5,230 under PSS during the 2022 Rabi season. Maharashtra: 6,86,616 MT, Karnataka:73,863 MT, Gujarat: 5,58,622 MT, Andhra Pradesh: 71,840 MT and Uttar Pradesh: 25,489 MT.
