Spot Coriander Prices Cool amid Surging Arrivals; Orders of 22,000 Q From Dubai

Jaipur (Commodities Control) - Mandis in Rajasthan witnessed bumper arrivals of new coriander crops on Tuesday. Farmers are too keen to get their supplies to the markets in anticipation of better remunerations despite higher than permissible moisture content in the new supplies.

Coriander prices slipped by Rs 70 per Quintal amid record arrivals of 33,000 bags in the state mandis, of which 28,000 bags consisted of new coriander.


Buyers actively participated across Ramganj and Kota along with others, while there was reportedly an order for 22,000 bags of coriander from Dubai.


Rajasthan mandis register drop in spot prices right from the early session of the auctions today. Coriander shed Rs 150/Quintal during the morning session. However it recovered much of its losses by afternoon session and ended Rs 30-70 per Quintal lower. The Badami variety in Ramganj mandi was quoted at Rs 5450-5650 per Quintal and Eagle was quoted at Rs 5700-5750/Quintal.


New coriander was priced at Rs 4200-4350 at the lower end and Rs 5750-5900 at the upper end. Upper grade coriander was quoted at Rs 5800 per Quintal at Kota and Baran mandi today.


Exporters continue to be interested in Rajasthan coriander. The state mandis have received orders of 22,000 quintals from Dubai, to be delivered by month-end. The average price quoted for the same was around Rs 5,900/Quintal.

Apart from the exporters, demand is persistent from other states-- Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, karnataka, madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. Meanwhile stockists continue to eye the pace of arrivals. Market arrivals are expected to run over 30,000 bags per day.


Amid total arrivals of coriander in Rajasthan, 4,200 bags comprised of old coriander. Ramganj mandi- 23,500 bags, Kota mandi--3,600 bags, Baran mandi-- 2500 bags and Jaipur mandi-- 1800 bags.
