NEW DELHI (Commodities control) Wheat prices have registered mixed trend in major mandis of producing states. Mill quality wheat gained in Rajasthan mandis, but lost in Delhi and Bareilly mandis. Entire market is looking towards festival season for improvement of demand. The traders are facing long sluggish trend in wheat prices.

Mill quality wheat gained Rs. 30 to Rs. 1520-1530 per quintal in Bundi mandi of Rajasthan. Same quality wheat shot up in Kota and Baran. Premium wheat 4037 (Duplicate Sharbati) and PD also rose up to Rs. 25 per quintal.

Kota based trader Uttam Jethwani told that wheat demand increased from millers. Southern millers have increased buying from Hadouti region of Rajasthan.

According to market sources, traders are on indefinite strike in Madhya Pradesh. Therefore, demand has diverted to Rajasthan mandis.

Indore is a major wheat supply centre for flour millers situated in southern states. Daily one railway rake load of wheat is being supplied from Hadouti region. Very often wheat rakes are doubled in case of more orders from southern mills.

But wheat slipped Rs. 20 to Rs. 1750-1770 per quintal in Delhi. Delhi-based trader Mr. Rajesh Jain told that flour mills reduced buying prices. The mills reduced wheat buying price by Rs. 50-60 per quintal. He told that the arrival was also limited but demand was sluggish.

Similarly, wheat slipped in Bareilly mandi. But the prices remained stable in Kanpur mandi. A Kanpur based flour miller said that entire wheat chain was waiting for festival demand. Market sentiments are likely to improve after one week as festival season starts after mid-October. After a week, mills will increase buying and entire chain will move faster.
