Karnataka Cotton Trades Steady as Arrivals' Pace Halts in Mandis, Demand Dull

Mumbai (Commodities Control) - Cotton prices were quoted steady for second day in a row as yarn mills' demand continues to be dull in Karnataka.

State mandis report that arrivals have halted. Meanwhile mills are purchasing only as per their immediate requirement. State mandis registered daily arrivals of 1200 bales similar to the last session. 31 mm cotton was quoted at Rs 38,300-38,500 per candy and 30 mm cotton in Karnataka was quoted at Rs 37,800-38,000 per Candy, while 29 mm cotton was priced at Rs 37,300-37,500 per Candy. In Bellary, 30mm was priced at Rs 36,800-900 per candy. Bijapur 29-30mm cotton was quoted at Rs 36,500-37,000 per candy. Kapas was priced at Rs 4,000-5275 and cottonseed was quoted at Rs 2200-2650 per quintal. Nationwide cotton arrivals were reported at 26,100 bales on Wednesday, with North India registering arrivals at 7,000 bales and 3,000 bales were witnessed in Upper Rajasthan. Gujarat reported arrivals of 7,000 bales of cotton today and 3,000 bales were registered in Maharashtra, while M.P. witnessed arrivals of 2,500 bales and Andhra Pradesh-Telangana together registered arrivals of 2,400 bales of cotton. Karnataka witnessed arrivals of 1,200 bales of cotton today. (Commodities Control Bureau)
