Cotton Prices Firm in Telangana, Steady in Karnataka

Mumbai (commodities control) - Cotton prices were quoted steady in mandis of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh amid average trading session. However prices upped Rs 200 per candy in Bhainsa mandi of Telangana.Arrivals of 200-300 bales were registered in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana mandi. Kapas was quoted at Rs 3600-4400. Cotton seed was quoted at Rs 2400 - 2500 and cocud was priced at Rs 2200-2300.

It is to be noted at CCI has raised the base price of its cotton by Rs 100 per candy, under the discount scheme. The agency has upped the rates tracking strength in global cotton benchmark. This is the third time, CCI has hiked its base price taking the total hike for the state to Rs 500 this month.

30mm cotton in Karnataka was quoted at Rs 35,300-35,500 and 29 mm was priced at Rs 35,000-35,200 per candy. DCH was quoted at Rs 54,000-55,000 per candy.

29 mm cotton in Bhainsa mandi of Telangana was quoted at Rs 34,200-34,700 and 29.5+mm cotton was priced at Rs 34,700-35,200 per candy.30+ mm cotton was priced at Rs 35,200-35,700. 29+mm cotton in Warangal was quoted at Rs 34,400-34,600 and 29.5-30 mm was priced at Rs 35,500-36,000 per candy.

Traders confirm that rains have interrupted trade in Karnataka mandis. Thus the state mandis received no arrivals today. Although mill buying continues in Telangana.

According to the CCI's new discount scheme 27-30 mm cotton in Adilabad was quoted at Rs 35,800-37,300 per candy and 28-30 mm in Warangal was priced at Rs 36,200-37,300 per candy. In Hubli of Karnataka, CCI has quoted 28-30mm cotton at Rs 35,800-37,300 per candy.
