Mumbai (Commodities Control) - Spot cardamom prices tanked Rs 225 per Kg after days of price rise due to rise in arrivals in Kerala mandis. The average price in Sugandhgiri auction centre of Wayanad was quoted at Rs 1725 per Kg, while the average price was quoted at Rs 1950 per Kg in Vandanmedu in the previous session.

Arrivals doubled around 103 tons, while 91.2 tons were sold. Vandanmedu registered 53.5 tons in the previous session.

Traders reveal that stockists started liquaidating their stocks as prices touched a level of five months high in the previous session. This led to heavy arrivals in the market yards today. Although demand was affected due to heavy rains and floods in the region.

Prices gathered strength in the prior sessions, as the market suspects lower cardamom output due to heavy rainfall and landslides in Idukki and Kannur.
