Cotton Prices Rise Rs 20 in North India Mandis

Mumbai (commodities control) - Cotton prices were quoted firm by Rs 20 per maund in North India tracking strength in international markets.

CCI has announced new discount scheme for sales in the ongoing month. Cottonseed prices for Punjab, Haryana and Upper Rajasthan region were quoted at Rs 2650-2700 per quintal, while Cottonseed oil cake were priced at 2225-2300/quintal.

28+mm cotton in Punjab was quoted at Rs 3590-3620, while in Haryana 28mm was priced at Rs 3500-3620/maund. In Upper Rajasthan, the fibre was quoted at Rs 3520-3620/maund.

28+ mm in Ravatsar was quoted at Rs 3620 and in Hanumangarh mandi was priced at Rs 3620 too. 28mm in Vijay Nagar was priced at Rs 3580 and in Shri Ganga Nagar the variety traded at Rs 3550 per maund, while 27.5-28 mm in Peelibanga was quoted at Rs 3570 and 27.5 mm in Anupgarh was priced at Rs 3540/maund.

According to the traders, mill operations have improved after a long weekend along with positive global market sentiments. ICE cotton October futures has touched highest level since 13th July.

Cotton Corporation of India is auctioning its cotton under new discount scheme. The new scheme is applicable for August 1-15. According to the scheme 27-28 mm cotton in Bhatinda of Punjab and Sirsa of Haryana was quoted at Rs 35,200-35,600 and Rs 35,400-35,800 per candy in Bhilwada of Rajasthan. The scheme is inclusive of Rs 300-1500 per candy of quantative discounts.
